5 Axis Gantry Boring Mill
Product Description
When the workpiece is long, wide, and heavy, a standard CNC machine can quickly run out of room. This 5 axis gantry boring mill is built for exactly those jobs. With a large gantry structure, long-axis travel, adjustable machining height, and multiple-axis movement, it gives operators the working space needed for large and complex components. The machine can be used for boring, milling, drilling, and other heavy-duty machining operations without constantly moving the workpiece between different machines.
The JGM series includes six configurations: JGM2560T, JGM3080T, JGM40100L, JGM50120L, JGM50120D, and JGM60160D. The X-axis travel ranges from 6,500 to 16,500 mm, while the Y-axis travel reaches up to 7,800 mm. Optional worktables are available from 2,500 × 6,000 mm to 6,000 × 16,000 mm, with selected configurations supporting up to 25 t/m². This makes the machine a strong option for heavy machinery, energy equipment, shipbuilding, mining equipment, steel structures, large molds, and other oversized components.
Product Features
Large Gantry Structure for Oversized Parts
The main advantage of a gantry-type boring mill is the open working area. Instead of limiting the workpiece to a conventional enclosed machining center, the JGM series provides long X-axis travel and wide Y-axis movement. The effective gantry width reaches up to 7,500 mm, while the distance from the spindle end face to the worktable can be configured from 250–6,000 mm depending on the model.
This layout makes loading and machining large components much more practical.
Flexible 5-Axis Machining
The machine is designed around multi-axis movement for complex machining tasks. X, Y, Z, and W-axis movements work together with the machining head configuration to provide flexible tool positioning. This is useful when different areas of a large workpiece need to be reached without repeated repositioning.
Depending on the model, Z-axis travel is available from 1,250 to 2,500 mm, while W-axis travel reaches up to 3,000 mm.
Powerful Spindle for Heavy Cutting
The spindle system is designed for demanding industrial machining. Smaller configurations use a 500 × 500 mm ram section, while larger models can be equipped with a 600 × 600 mm section. Spindle speeds reach 2,000 rpm, with main motor power up to 81 kW and maximum spindle torque up to 10,000 Nm.
The rigid spindle and gantry structure help keep vibration under control when machining large steel or cast components. Structural materials and casting specifications can be customized or confirmed according to the final machine configuration.
Practical Tooling and Control Options
The machine can be equipped with FANUC 0i or Siemens 828D CNC systems, with FANUC 31i and Siemens ONE available as optional upgrades. Different milling heads can also be selected, including vertical milling heads, universal milling heads, extended milling heads, flat-head milling heads, and other customized heads.
A 40-tool capacity is standard, with 60-, 80-, and 100-tool options available for customers who need more tooling flexibility.
