Twin Spindle Bridge Machining Center

The GFD5360R is a self-developed fixed-beam, moving-column twin-spindle gantry machining center by Five-Axis CNC. It features a 4.2-meter wide, 6-meter long worktable and a 5.3-meter gantry width. Its biggest highlight is the two independent spindle heads mounted on the crossbeam, which can share the X-axis to work simultaneously. Powered by the Siemens 828D system, it is specifically designed for high-volume, highly repetitive machining of large parts.

Product Introduction

Product Description

Put simply, this twin spindle bridge machining center is a "double-efficiency" machining weapon. It adopts a fixed-table, moving-gantry frame structure (bridge type). Because the crossbeam is fixed (fixed beam), the entire gantry carrying the two spindles moves back and forth along the bed. The two BT50 spindles (Y1/Y2 axes) can move independently left and right on the crossbeam. Paired with the WEI-MA gearbox, the speed is only 3500 RPM, but the torque reaches 1352 N·m. These two cutters can simultaneously machine different areas of the same workpiece, or independently machine two separate parts, making it highly suitable for mass production.

Product Features

Efficient bridge-type moving column structure:

The bed is fixed, and the entire gantry frame moves along the X-axis as one unit. This high-bridge structure maximizes space utilization, keeps the loading area unrestricted, and provides extremely large travel without taking up extra floor space.

True twin-spindle collaboration:

Two independent rams (Y1 and Y2) are mounted on the crossbeam. Both spindles can not only perform independent Y-axis movements, but through system synchronization, they can utilize the same X-axis program to simultaneously complete milling, drilling, or tapping on two similar features, doubling the machining efficiency.

Solid spindle and torque:

The ram is a fully enclosed 500×500mm box-type ram, paired with a high-reduction-ratio WEI-MA gearbox. Low speed and high torque make it perfect for heavy roughing of cast iron parts.

Three-layer linear guides to counteract eccentric loads:

Three precision roller guideways are arranged on the crossbeam (1 on the top plane, 2 on the vertical plane). Even when both spindles are heavy-cutting simultaneously, it can resist substantial tipping torque.

Product Advantages

Compared to single-spindle machines, the most direct benefit of purchasing this twin spindle bridge machining center is saving on machines, floor space, and labor. For example, when machining a row of identical parts, previously you needed two machines running at the same time; now one machine does the job. Since the entire machine uses a fixed-beam structure, the W-axis lifting action is omitted, and the crossbeam height is fixed. This gives this twin spindle bridge machining center better structural rigidity than moving-beam machines, with almost zero tool deflection during heavy cuts. For processing long strip-shaped parts, a twin spindle bridge machining center can cut in from both ends or positions simultaneously, greatly reducing cycle time.

Product Application

Twin spindle bridge machining center is widely used in batch processing of large automotive cover dies, heavy construction machinery parts, marine supporting structures, and rail transit equipment. It supports multiple processes such as milling, boring, drilling, rigid tapping, reaming, and counterboring. It is especially suitable for production scenarios involving one-mold-multi-cavity, dual-cavity symmetrical workpieces, or large batches of identical parts.

Customization Options

  • Torque Upgrade: An enhanced version of the WEI-MA gearbox (1/8.15 ratio) is available to further boost low-end torque.
  • Coolant Pressure: Optional 30kg spindle center through coolant (CTS) for deep hole chip evacuation.
  • Foundation Types: Supports standard and sunk-in foundations (sunk-in requires self-prepared covers).
  • Attachment Options: Although the standard factory output is 3-axis simultaneous machining, right-angle heads or extension heads can be discussed and installed based on mold machining requirements (please confirm head magazine and interference in advance).

FAQ

Q: Can the two spindles run completely different programs?

A: Not completely asynchronous. Both spindles share the same X-axis coordinate, so their feed rates in the X direction are synchronized. However, they can move independently in the Y-axis (Y1/Y2) and Z-axis directions. They are suitable for machining parts with similar X-direction features or symmetrical parts.

Q: When both spindles are cutting simultaneously, will the machine vibrate?

A: No. This machine has a very solid structural weight, with 4 pieces of 55-size heavy-duty roller guideways on the X-axis and 3 linear guides on the crossbeam. As long as the cutting forces are balanced, simultaneous heavy cutting with both heads is extremely stable-this was a key design consideration during R&D.

Q: What is the difference between this machine and a bridge-type 5-axis machine?

A: This is a fixed-beam, moving-column 3-axis/4-axis machine (including Y1/Y2) without A/C tilt heads. It mainly serves high-volume, high-material-removal general machining. If your parts require complex curved surfaces, you would need to look at our other 5-axis series.

Q: What is the delivery time?

A: As a large customized non-standard machine, the production cycle is generally 3-6 months. It depends on the production schedule. We will notify you for factory pre-acceptance before shipment.
