5 Axis Gantry CNC

The GBX-3530U is a 5 axis gantry cnc machining center featuring a fixed-table, elevated-bridge structure. For the X-axis, longitudinal movement along the left and right bedways is driven by saddles carrying a "box-in-box" style crossbeam. It utilizes the Siemens ONE control system and supports five-axis simultaneous machining. The machine is designed for high-precision five-axis machining of medium-sized, complex-surface components, making it suitable for applications such as aerospace structural parts, precision molds, and impellers for energy equipment.

The 5 axis gantry cnc machine tool employs an elevated-bridge structure with a floor-mounted fixed table. Longitudinal saddles on the left and right bedways jointly support a "box-in-box" crossbeam; this beam, along with the ram mounted upon it, moves along the X-axis. The machine features a closed-frame structure. Major structural components-including the bed, table, left and right saddles, box-in-box crossbeam, cross-slide, and milling head ram-are cast from high-strength iron using resin sand molding, ensuring excellent vibration damping and thermal stability.

The X and Y axes utilize rack-and-pinion drives, while the Z-axis employs a ball screw. The AC tilting head is directly driven by torque motors, eliminating the need for gear transmissions; the A-axis offers a tilting range of ±105°, and the C-axis allows for continuous ±360° rotation. The spindle reaches a maximum speed of 10,000 rpm, with a rated torque of 200 N·m (240 N·m under S6 duty). The closed-frame design provides high rigidity, enabling both heavy-duty roughing and the achievement of superior surface quality during finishing operations.

Box-in-Box Crossbeam

The crossbeam utilizes a "box-in-box" design, essentially a ram structure nested within a large rectangular box, connected by internal reinforcing ribs. Compared to a solid rectangular beam of the same weight, this structure offers superior rigidity and torsional resistance. The left and right saddles support the beam from both ends; during X-axis movement, the saddles are driven synchronously, ensuring balanced force distribution and preventing beam distortion caused by off-center loads.

HSK-A100 Spindle (10,000 rpm)

The HSK-A100 tool holder utilizes dual-contact interfaces, ensuring stable clamping force during high-speed rotation-ideal for 10,000 rpm operations. The spindle offers a maximum speed of 10,000 rpm, a rated power of 54 kW, and torque ratings of 200/240 N·m. This configuration delivers excellent machining efficiency for aluminum alloys and composites, while also allowing for low-speed roughing of steel components.

Direct-Drive AC Tilting Head with Torque Motors

The AC tilting head features direct drive via torque motors-one for the A-axis and one for the C-axis-eliminating the need for intermediate gears, worm gears, or belts. This design ensures zero backlash during reversals and eliminates gear wear, resulting in long-term precision stability. The absence of gear meshing vibrations and noise leads to superior machined surface quality. With a braking torque of 4000 N·m, the head remains securely locked without sagging during power outages or emergency stops.

Four-Guideway Configuration for All Three Axes

Each of the X, Y, and Z axes is equipped with four heavy-duty 55-series roller guideways. The X-axis features two guideways on each side of the bed; the Y-axis has four evenly spaced guideways on the crossbeam; and the Z-axis ram has one guideway on each of its four sides. This four-guideway setup offers a wider load-bearing surface compared to two- or three-guideway designs, distributing forces more effectively, reducing the load on individual slide blocks, and minimizing oscillation during movement.

High Rapid Traverse Speeds

The X and Y axes utilize Alpha rack-and-pinion drives, while the Z-axis employs a ball screw, achieving rapid traverse speeds of 30/30/20 m/min. This significantly exceeds the 15–20 m/min speeds typical of similar five-axis gantry machines on the market. The high speed reduces non-cutting time during high-speed milling of aluminum alloys or composite materials, offering a distinct efficiency advantage.

Precision Standards

Positioning accuracy is 0.02 mm for X/Y and 0.012 mm for Z; repeatability is 0.015 mm for X/Y and 0.01 mm for Z. The machine complies with the GB/T33150-2016 standard, meeting the requirements for machining aerospace structural components and precision molds.

Product Applications

Aerospace Aluminum Alloy Structural Parts: Integral thin-walled components such as aircraft wing ribs, frame beams, and wall panels-typically 2–3 meters in length-fit perfectly within the 2500×3000mm worktable. Five-axis simultaneous machining allows for the processing of both internal and external surfaces in a single setup; the A-axis (±105° tilt) handles sidewalls and chamfers, while the C-axis (continuous rotation) machines arc contours. The 10,000 rpm spindle with HSK-A100 interface is ideal for high-speed aluminum milling.

Precision Molds: Stamping molds for automotive body panels and injection molds for bumpers feature complex geometries and dimensions of 2–3 meters. Five-axis simultaneous machining enables the use of the tool's side edge rather than the tip of a ball-nose cutter, resulting in superior surface quality. The 1250mm Z-axis travel, combined with A-axis tilting, allows for the machining of deep cavities and steep sidewalls.

Energy Equipment (Impellers & Diffuser Casings): Components such as compressor impellers and pump diffuser casings feature twisted blade surfaces that require five-axis machining. A torque motor directly drives the tilting head, ensuring rapid response, 8-arc-second positioning accuracy, and excellent path-following capabilities when machining complex contours.

Composite Components: Non-metallic parts such as carbon-fiber aerospace components and wind turbine blade molds require high spindle speeds (10,000 rpm is sufficient) but lower torque. Rapid traverse speeds of 30/30/20 m/min (X/Y/Z) ensure high machining efficiency.
