Gantry Type Machining Center
Product Details
The Gantry Type Machining Center utilizes a structural configuration featuring a fixed gantry frame and a table that moves along the machine bed. Key castings-including the bed, crossbeam, and columns-underwent FEA during development, with strategically placed reinforcing ribs to ensure structural rigidity. High-strength cast iron, produced via premium resin-sand molding, is used for the castings; post-casting heat treatments, such as annealing, are applied to eliminate internal stresses and minimize the risk of deformation during operation.
The ram assembly features a fully enclosed 420 × 420 mm square ram design. The gearbox is separated from the ram body, with the servo motor and two-stage reduction gearbox mounted at the top of the ram and connected to the spindle via a high-torque coupling. Both the spindle and gearbox are equipped with independent air-conditioner-style oil cooling systems; circulating coolant dissipates heat and minimizes thermal transfer to the ram, thereby controlling thermal expansion of the boring and milling head and ensuring dimensional stability during prolonged machining operations.

Product Features
The X-axis bed of Gantry Type Machining Center is equipped with three size-55 heavy-duty roller guideways; their wide spacing ensures uniform load distribution and high resistance to overturning moments during heavy-duty cutting.
The Y-axis crossbeam utilizes two size-55 heavy-duty roller guideways arranged at a right angle (one on the vertical face and one on the top face). This configuration optimizes the load-bearing direction and minimizes oscillation during movement.
The Z-axis ram employs a box-way (hardened rail) structure; the guideway surfaces are induction-hardened, while the pressure plates and gibs feature bonded low-friction lining (Turcite). Box ways offer superior contact rigidity compared to roller guideways when the ram is extended during machining, making them ideal for heavy-duty cutting operations.
The W-axis utilizes rectangular box ways on the front faces of the left and right columns, combined with bonded low-friction lining technology, to ensure precise guidance and wear resistance during the vertical movement of the crossbeam.
The X, Y, and Z axes all utilize large-lead precision ball screws driven by servo motors via gear reducers. The use of reducers boosts torque output during low-speed feed and minimizes the impact of motor load fluctuations on motion stability.
The Z-axis movement features a nitrogen cylinder counterbalance system to offset the dead weight of the ram and spindle headstock; this reduces no-load screw torque and wear over long-term operation, thereby preserving screw accuracy.
The W-axis employs a dual-screw drive system, with a high-precision, preloaded double-nut ball screw assembly on each column. Each screw is driven by a servo motor paired with a planetary gear reducer, connected via a backlash-free coupling. Synchronous dual-screw driving balances the weight of the movable crossbeam and saddle, offering faster response speeds than single-screw or hydraulic counterbalance systems.
The spindle motor is directly coupled to a BF dual-gear transmission, which features two-stage gear reduction and switchable high/low gear ranges. The low-gear range delivers up to 1,860 N·m of torque, suitable for heavy-duty cutting, while the high-gear range reaches speeds of 4,000 rpm, meeting surface quality requirements for precision finishing.
The spindle and gearbox are equipped with an independent air-cooled oil cooling system; cooling oil circulates within the housing to dissipate heat generated by gear meshing and bearing rotation, preventing heat transfer to the ram and subsequent thermal deformation.
Product Advantages
Excellent Heavy-Duty Cutting Stability:
The Gantry Type Machining Center features three roller guideways on the bed, a right-angle guideway layout for the Y-axis, and a box-way (hard rail) structure for the Z-axis. This combination minimizes vibration and tool deflection during heavy-duty cutting. A dual-gear transmission delivers high torque at low speeds, making it ideal for processing castings and forgings with large machining allowances.
Reliable Precision Retention:
Castings undergo annealing to minimize long-term deformation caused by internal stress. Ball screws utilize pre-tensioning or dual-nut preload structures to compensate for thermal expansion. A nitrogen counterbalance system on the Z-axis reduces ball screw wear; these design features ensure the machine maintains precision standards even after years of operation.
Rapid W-Axis Response:
The combination of dual ball screws, planetary gear reducers, and high-inertia servo motors results in lower tracking errors during cross-rail elevation compared to traditional hydraulic or counterweight balancing systems. This ensures superior dynamic performance, making it suitable for applications requiring frequent W-axis height adjustments.
Effective Thermal Control:
The spindle gearbox features independent oil cooling, isolating the heat source from the ram. This effectively controls vertical shifts in the spindle centerline-a critical factor for deep-hole boring and precision hole-pattern machining.
Product Applications
Large Mold Machining: Suitable for injection molds (e.g., automotive bumpers, dashboards, home appliance housings) and die-casting molds. The table size and gantry width accommodate large mold blanks. A Z-axis travel of 1200mm combined with a 2000mm W-axis travel allows for the completion of multiple processes-such as cavity machining, ejector pin holes, and cooling channels-in a single setup.
Construction Machinery Structural Parts: Ideal for face milling, reaming, and boring welded components such as excavator booms, sticks, and buckets. The machine's heavy-duty cutting capability handles hard spots in welds and uneven stock allowances effectively.
Rail Transportation Components: Suitable for bogies, traction motor housings, and gearbox casings. These parts often require machining on multiple planes and hole patterns; the gantry structure facilitates multi-face machining with a single workpiece setup.
Wind Power and Energy Equipment: Suitable for large castings such as wind turbine hubs, base frames, and planetary carriers. The worktable supports a load of 30 tons; combined with a high-torque spindle, it enables heavy-duty milling and deep-hole boring.
